Background --  Calvary is a Catholic cemetery located in the Clifton/Passaic area, where many Burgenlaenders are buried. It is easily accessible off Route 80 (Market Street Exit).The entrance on Lakeview Ave. is the best entrance to use to gain access to the cemetery. The cemetery is pretty much filled to capacity. If people don’t own a plot already, the only available spaces are in the above-ground mausoleums.

General Observations --  Tombstone markings at this cemetery are relatively good, however the locations are not engraved on some of the headstones. Accordingly, you may have to search around somewhat, even if you have a grave location. The Staff at the cemetery are helpful and will take the time to provide good directions on how to get to specific gravesites.

Burial Record Information --  None of the records for burial locations are maintained on a computerized database. The information is maintained in card files arranged in alphabetical order by the decedent’s name. As long as you have a name, the office staff should be able to provide a grave location.

Office Hours --  The office is open daily from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. However, it closes at 12 noon on Saturdays, and is not open on Sunday.
