Szent Péterfa, Hungary: Birth, Marriage and Death Records

This database is courtesy of BB members John Lavendoski and Frank Teklits who, from 1999 to 2006, worked diligently to photograph (John) and transcribe (Frank) the Catholic church records for Szent Péterfa, Hungary (German: Prostrum; Kroat: Petrovo Selo). Additional credit goes to Steve Geosits for assisting with surname spellings and Dr. Albert Schuch for assisting with Latin translations.

The database consists of 17,037 birth records from 1681 to 1925, 10,201 death records from 1682 to 1906, and 3,686 marriage records from 1683 to 1934.

Szent Péterfa
was the official recording location for
- Ebarau (Monyorókerék),
- Kulm (Kolom) and
- Winten (Pinkatótfalu).

Szent Péterfa was also the official recording location for
- Sankt Kathrein ([Pósa-]Szent-Katalin),
- Edlitz (Abdalóc),
- Kroatisch Ehrensdorf (Horváthásos), and
- Harmisch (Hovárdos)
until Sankt Kathrein became the recording location for these villages in 1805.

It seems likely that Moschendorf (Nagysároslak) was also recorded at Szent Péterfa prior to becoming its own recording location in 1783.

Upon completion, the full database was shared with FamilySearch (LDS) and the files were made available in its Library. However, the files were not made accessible over the internet except from Latter-day Saints-affiliated locations. Given that, Frank agreed to allow the BB to make the records available online via our website, and the links in the table below lead to the files. Copyright remains with Frank Teklits.

Codes by names: (w) = widow(er); (d) = deceased; (N) = noble; (N-d) = deceased noble
