This first section of our "special" 1-section newsletter concerns:

1. 2ND BB STAFF MEETING
2. 92ND COPLAY SÄNGERBUND STIFTUNGFEST

THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER (by Tom Steichen)

This short "Special" BB Newsletter has two goals:

First, to inform you that the Burgenland Bunch
will be holding its second-ever in-person staff meeting
on Saturday, June 27th in the Lehigh Valley;

Second, to invite you to join us on the Sunday, June 28th
at the Coplay Sängerbund to meet the BB staff and
enjoy the festivities of their 92nd Stiftungfest.

2ND BB STAFF MEETING

The BB was formed in 1997; however, it was not until 10 years later, in April of 2007, that a first, formal staff meeting was held. For me, it was my very first time to meet another BB member in person, much less to meet another staff member or founder Gerry Berghold. For some of the staff, it was their only opportunity ever to meet Gerry (he passed away just 16 months later). It was at this meeting that Gerry established the current structure of the BB to ensure its future.

For our second meeting, nine of the thirteen staff members, one emeritus staff member and two guest BB members will come together in Allentown, PA, on June 27th. A special treat for us is that BB Newsletter Editor, Hannes Graf, of Vienna, Austria, will be present. Hannes is making his first ever visit to the United States so he can see New York City, meet the BB staff and BB members in the Lehigh Valley, and visit relatives in the Midwest (his US family is planning a huge 4th of July gathering in Indianapolis in his honor!).

While we have a fairly full agenda already, I am, nonetheless, soliciting your thoughts on issues or ideas that you think the staff should consider. If you have a complaint, less us know. If you have a particular service the BB should add, let us know. If you think we should stop doing something or change something, let us know. We will not promise to implement your idea, but we will consider it. Please email me, Tom Steichen, at tj.steichen(a)comcast.net or Margaret Kaiser, at burgenlaenderin(a)aol.com (she's drafting our agenda) and let us know your thoughts.

92ND COPLAY SÄNGERBUND STIFTUNGFEST

We are also inviting those of you near the Lehigh Valley to join us on the 28th for Stiftungfest at the Coplay Sängerbund (at 5th St. and Schreiber Ave. in Coplay). The Bund has kindly agreed to let us invade their premises and share in their festivities. We plan to "reserve" some tables for our staff, spouses, and for those BB member who tell us they plan to join us. The admission fee is a mere $2 and the kitchen will be open for food and drinks. To have us save space for you, please contact Ed Tantsits at edtantsits(a)enter.net or Frank Paukowits at paukowits1(a)aol.com to be added to our list.

The Sängerbund door opens at 1 pm and the choral concert, featuring the Coplay Sängerbund Mixed Chorus, the Hianz'nchor, the Reading Liederkranz Mixed Chorus, the Lehigh Sängerbund and another Chorus from Reading, PA, will start at 2 pm. The Emil Schanta Band will play dance music in the pavilion in the adjoining grove from 4 to 8 pm.

The Bund is a private club and guests have to be sponsored by a member for the day. Member Bob Strauch says to just mention "BB" and/or his name or that of members Ed and Frank Tantsits. We look forward to seeing you!
