Jennersdorf: Birth, Marriage and Death Records
The Catholic Births databases are courtesy of BB Members Edward Schraith and Thomas
Steichen. Edward provided a complete transcription of the Jennersdorf (Gyanafalva)
Catholic parish birth records for 1828-1885, as well as some selected pages in the 1886-1895 era. Thomas
transcribed the missing pages in the 1886-1895 era, so we have the complete record set. The source for the data was
FamilySearch microfilm 700669 and the images (digital collection 4674842) for that film are here:
familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939V-JB5T-F?mode=g&cat=104974. In total there are 8,850 birth records in the
collection, with Edward being responsible for all but maybe a thousand. Copyright for the transcription remains with
Edward and Thomas.
In addition, Edward transcribed Marriage records for this parish in the 1828-1886 era. A few
pages were missed so Thomas transcribed those records (less than 150). He also transcribed the 243 records
in the 1887-1895 era, bringing the total to 1,670 marriage records. The source for the data was FamilySearch
microfilms 700669 and 700770. The images (in digital collections 4674842 and 4620341, respectively) for these films are
here:
familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939F-88Z4-L?mode=g&cat=104974 and
familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939V-JBBB-X?mode=g&i=491&cat=104974.
The transcription identifies the image number where each record appears, with images 492-546 on the first film
and images 12-103 on the second film. After 1845, sequential within-year numbering of records was done and is
provided in the "Line" column in the transcription. The records were not numbered prior to 1846 so 'Line" contains the
sequential record on the page or half-page (with "left" and "right" indicating which half-page in the "Side"
column). Copyright for the transcription remains with Edward and Thomas.
The Jennersdorf (Hungarian: Gyanafalva) Catholic parish was also the official recorder for:

The Civil Death database is courtesy of Ferenc Zotter, who indexed the death records from
Jennersdorf (Hungarian: Gyanafalva) for MACSE (Magyar Családtörténet-kutató
Egyesület = Hungarian Society for Family History Research;
https://macse.hu/) and made the database available to us. The source for the data is FamilySearch digital
record collections # 5036121 (1895-1903) and # 5036122 (1904-1920), found here:
