Langental (Langató. Kroat: Longitolj)
Predominantly Croatian village in the Oberpullendorf district; currently an Ortsteile of Grosswarasdorf
History (from http://www.grosswarasdorf.at):
Langenthal is a start-up from the beginning of the 19th Century. Count Niczky founded this small town as a residential
colony for the employees of his possessions.
The soil is historical. King Béla IV, in 1229, confirmed in a deed of gift, that among others, a place needs to be
located at this point. In 1397, the settlement was named Karako. In the wars against the Turks, it was destroyed and
never rebuilt.
The town grew steadily since its re-founding. With the construction of a chapel, and later a school building, and
through the creation of some associations, a sense of autonomy developed among the residents, although the settlement
belonged both political and religiously to Nebersdorf.
In recent years, the population numbers are declining, and the town is increasingly developing into a holiday village or
a residence for retirement.
