Luising
Village of 120 residents in the Güssing district.
Oldest known surnames (from the Heiligenbrunn baptism records 1745-55): SCHRANZ, GRATZER, HAIGEL (HAIGL), FÜRST, FRENTZ,
SAJER, HAGL, VENI, PAAL (PALL, PAL), PEDL, VOLFF, SNAKEL (SCHNAKL), TUNST, LUKA (LOCA), FÜRHÖSL, SCHWARZHOFF, VAGNER,
VIENER.
In 1797, the following Luising families owned vineyards in Heiligenbrunn: FÜRHAISL, SCHRANZ, SCHNAKL, GRAF, HAIGL,
LIENDL, WIENER, PAAL, WOLF, DRETL, LAKY, DALL, SAYER, SCHWARTZHOFFER, LUKKA, GREINZ.
In 1875 and 1891, the whole village burned down. In 1929, four families were known to have emigrated to America.
Luising has always been part of the parish Hagensdorf (1656-1788 with Hagensdorf part of Heiligenbrunn parish). Children
attend school in Hagensdorf.
