Neuhaus am Klausenbach (Vasdobra)
Village of 500 residents in the Jennersdorf district.
In Southern Burgenland, Neuhaus am Klausenbach was first mentioned in the 1170 document "Novum Castrum" ("New Castles")
when it documented the Burg (castle) established in the 12th century by Güssing Counts to control entry to the
Klausenbach (Hemitage Brook) valley. The castle was destroyed in 1467 but ruins remain. The Roman Catholic church was
built in the 16th century and the Protestant church in the year 1794. The village is now predominantly German-speaking,
Protestant and agriculture-based and has had "Market Town" status for over 500 years.
