Henrietta Millner


Henrietta Millner, 93, of Arizona, died peacefully in Camarillo, California on Dec. 28, 2012.

Henrietta was the devoted wife for 50 years to the late John Millner.

Born in Unterschützen, Austria, she was a daughter of the late Johann and Maria Simon

She is survived by her loving children who were blessed to have her as their mother, Janet Schuette, Nancy (Richard) Schukat and Illinois State Senator (28th District) John J. (the late Deborah) Millner.

She was the proud grandmother of Rick (Kate) Schukat, Rich (Trudi) Schuette, Joan (Mike) Colvin, Sue (Ed) Uhlig, Laurie (Estephan) Salameh and John Millner; and honored great-grandmother of Rachel, Cassidy, Miranda, Jeremy, Ava, Aliz, Ana, Luca and Sabrina.

She was predeceased by siblings Irma, Maria and Johann, all of Austria.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 305 Circle Ave., Forest Park, IL. Private interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.

Wilhelm Augustin


Mr. Wilhelm Ludwig Augustin, 85, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, died Saturday, December 15, 2012.

Born in Passaic, N.J. and raised in Punitz, Austria, Mr. Augustin was the son of the late Stephan and Apollonia (Halvachs) Augustin.

He was a retired foreman with Duff-Norton in Charlotte and was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.

He loved his family and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his son, Stefan Andreas Augustin and his wife, Jeannie, of Cameron, N.C.; two daughters, Anna Brandl-Kleine and her husband, Hans, of Fort Mill and Martha Bash of Charlotte; three sisters, Maria Buczok and her husband, Alex, of Highland Lakes, N.J., Theresia Menconi of Clifton, N.J. and Stefania Mayerhold of Austria; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anna Mayer Augustin.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with Father John Giuliani, C.O. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Sofia Beruscha


Sofia Beruscha, 86, of Gibsonburg, Ohio, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont.

She was born on May 30, 1926 in Sopron (Ödenburg), Hungary to Eduard & Katharina (Daimel) Scharfy.

In 1945, she married Louis Beruscha in Sopron, Hungary and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Sofia was a professional seamstress, retiring in 1987 from her business Emmy's.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg.

Sofia also was a member of the Gibsonburg Delphians & Extraordinary Woman's Club and enjoyed bowling.

Surviving is a son, Michael (Melissa) Beruscha of Algonquin, IL; grandchildren, Alex and Jennifer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; daughter, Emma Beruscha; and sister, Maria Halwax.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at theHerman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. Pastor Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery.

Hubert Kaiser


Hubert Kaiser, age 90, passed away in Denton, Texas on December 10, 2012.

Hubert was born in Apetlon, Austria on February 28, 1922, the son of Adolph and Anna (Lang) Kaiser.

Hubert was a 20 year member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Denton, TX.

He is preceded in death by wives Josephine Kaiser and Vivian Kaiser.

He is survived by son William Kaiser of MN; daughter Fran Isenberg of Denton, TX; sister Ann Nawrocki of MN; grandchildren Sarah Isenberg of Mansfield, TX and Jennifer McLain of Denton, TX; and three great-grandchildren.

A prayer service will be held on Friday December 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home chapel 705 N. Locust Denton, TX. A visitation will be from 1:00p.m. until 2:00p.m. on the same day. A private burial will take place in the Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN. (www.mulkeymasondenton.com)

Annina Mitchell


Annina Mitchell (née Schneider), age 92 and longtime resident of Green Valley, Arizona, passed Dec. 9, 2012, at her home while under Hospice care and with a friend at her side.

Born in Eisenberg an der Pinka, Burgenland, Austria, the eldest of three, Annina, age 17, was chosen to fulfill a U.S. Immigration quota for travel, residence and citizenship in America. She arrived alone at Ellis Island on Christmas Eve, 1937.

Annina will be laid to rest beside her navy husband, Robert Arthur Mitchell, in Arlington National Cemetery.

Family survivors include sister-in-law, Dorothy Foxworthy, and numerous nieces and nephews from Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas.

Maria "Mitzi" Strini, 82, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, died December 3 at home.

She was married to the late John F. Strini, Jr.

Born in Rábafüzes (Raabfidisch), Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Franz and Bertha (Heber) Keppel.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Whitehall.

Maria was a lifemember of the Coplay Saengerbund.

Survivors: Sons, John F., with whom she resided, Don and his wife, Joanne of Northampton, Jerome of Whitehall; daughters, Ann Marie, wife of Albert Ruppelli of Coplay, Vicky, wife of Otto Schatz of Northampton; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Anna of Austria; brother, Ferdinand of Austria.

Alphonz Szoldatits


Alfonz Szoldatits, 82, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 1, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Catherine (McCabe) Szoldatits. They celebrated their 53rd anniversary on May 9, 2012.

Born in Szentpéterfa (Petrovo Selo/Prostrum), Hungary, he was the son of the late Ferenc and Maria Szoldatits.

Alfonz served in the Hungarian Army.

He immigrated to the United States and became an American citizen in 1964.

He worked at various companies in the skilled trades. He retired from Mack Trucks in 1987 after 22 years of service.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Allentown.

He was a 50 plus year member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic S & B. Society, (Hungarian Hall) in Northampton.

He loved spending time doing carpentry, traveling, winemaking, watching soccer and working in his garden. He most enjoyed sharing special times with his wife, children, grandchildren and his extended family and friends.

Survivors: Wife, Cathy; daughter, Maria, wife of Brian Miller of Fredericksburg, PA; sons, Al Jr., husband of Jennifer (Keen) and Stephen, all of Schnecksville; grandchildren, Nathaniel Miller, Aaron, Alec, Ryan and Danica Szoldatits; sister, Pauline Janny of Allentown; brother, Ferenc and his wife Helga of Ampfing, Germany; sister-in-law, Aranka Szoldatits of Szentpéterfa, Hungary; also many nieces; nephews in the United States, Austria, Germany and Hungary. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Keschl; brother, Josef; brother-in-law, Joe Janny.

Wilhelm Fiedler


Wilhelm A. "Willi" Fiedler, age 86, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, where he was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 22, 1926, to Michael and Luise (Pfandler) Fiedler in Sopron (Ödenburg), Hungary.

Willi immigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Toledo in 1954 where he and his wife, Ursula, raised their family.

He was a Mason Contractor and owned his own business for 45 years in Toledo, (F & L Mason Contractors). Willi was a member of the Home Builders Assoc., GAF Retirees, GBU Schuetzenverien at the Oakshade and the Local 1 Bricklayers Union (50 year member). A large portion of his life and his family's life was devoted to the GBU (Greater Beneficial Union). Since settling in Toledo in 1954, Willi and his family were members of the GBU, where he was the President of Disctrict #510 - Toledo for 35 years.

Willi was instrumental to the GAF Society, he was one of the Founding Fathers and truly enjoyed the time he dedicated to the GAF Society. He also served as a past chairman of the annual GAF festival. He also was influential with obtaining the Oak Shade Grove property and managed many of the volunteers who built the hall and clubhouse for the GAF Society. He worked relentless hours in hopes to strengthen the GBU District #510, the GAF Society and the GAF grounds.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cheering for the Northwestern University football team, traveling with his wife by cruise ship, playing cards and shooting air rifles.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Ursula M. (Muschik) Fiedler; children, Gisela (Steven) Mohr, Irmgard (Richard) Green, Christine (Terry) Blackman and Michael (Vickie) Fiedler; grandchildren, Nicole (Dave), Natalie (Derek), Krista (Billy), Julie (Shaun), Kyle, Brooke, Shelly (Richard), Erin (Matt), Michael and Sydney; ten great-grandchildren, and brother, Ferdinand (Elfriede) Fiedler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three of his brothers.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Rudolph Schuster


Rudolph M. "Rudy" Schuster, 84, of Limeport, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in his home.

He was the husband of Trudy (Griebel) Schuster and they celebrated their 59th anniversary this past June.

Born in Allentown, but raised in Rábafüzes (Raabfidisch), Hungary, Rudy was a son of the late Michael and Julianna (Heber) Schuster.

Rudy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Limeport.

Rudy worked for ConEd at Indian Point as a senior quality radiograph assurance examiner, specializing in radiography.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW in Emmaus, PA.

He was the founder and past president of the Allentown Soccer Club, which was established in 1952.

He was a volunteer fireman for the Continental Village Fire Dept. in Peekskill, NY for many years.

He was the entertainment chairman for many years for the German American Social Club in Peekskill, NY.

Rudy was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Allentown, and was a Fourth Degree Member of Calvary Council #528.

He was a past president of the Lehigh Sängerbund, and he was a member of the Coplay Sängerbund.

Rudy loved to travel and work in his garden.

He was especially proud of and enjoyed his new crop of grandchildren.

Survivors: Surviving with his wife, Trudy are sons, Michael and his wife, Mary of East Windsor, CT, David and his wife, Jen of Belmont, MA, and Rudy Jr. and his wife, Kirsten of Ft. Collins, CO; daughters, Susan Williams of Windham, CT and Donna, wife of Lane T. Bradford of Bolton, CT; a sister, Agnes, wife of John Bodisch in Center Valley. Additionally, Rudy is survived by his 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Monica; his grandson, Jason Bates; and his siblings, Julia, Mary, Hilda, and Otto.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Calling will be on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave., Allentown, and on Monday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. in the church.

Rose Schanter


Rose Schanter (née Deutsch), age 82, of Gardiner, New York, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family and dogs.

She was born on July 3, 1930, in Pennsylvania and raised in Glasing, Austria.

She was an owner along with her late brother, Steve, and her late husband, Hans, of the Castle Harbour Casino, Bronx, NY.

Surviving are one daughter, Rosemarie Schanter and fiancé Dr. Saharat Bhitiyakul of Wallkill, NY and one son, John Schanter, and two grandchildren, Meghan and Jonathan Schanter.

Theresa Engelhard


Theresa Engelhard, 98, a resident of Holmes, New York, passed away Friday, November 09, 2012 at the Putnam Nursing & Rehab Center, Holmes, NY.

Born in Moschendorf, Austria on October 6, 1914, she was the daughter of Paul and Agnes (Wiener) Gaspar, and wife of the late Ludwig Engelhard.

Theresa and her family moved from Queens, and settled in Holmes in 1954. Theresa loved gardening, cooking, and reading.

She is survived by her son Richard, and his wife, Linda, of Holmes; her granddaughter Theresa Engelhard of Tuckahoe, NY; and her sister, Albine Garr of Austria.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her son, Ludwig.

Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY on Monday, November 12th from 10-10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. John's Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling, NY. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Pawling, NY.

Maria Hollendonner


Maria Hollendonner, 93, of New Hope, Pennsylvania, formerly of Trenton, New Jersey died peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Pine Run Health Center in Doylestown, PA.

She was the wife of the late Robert Hollendonner.

Born in Northampton, PA, and raised in Deutsch Ehrensdorf, Austria, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Maria Pflugler,

She was an active member of St. Anthony's Church in Trenton.

In 2000, Mary joined her daughter, Lorraine, in her home in New Hope. She was known for her warm hospitality and always made sure that her guests were well cared for by serving them her Austrian specialties. She was self-taught and her handiwork included exquisite, delicate porcelain figurines, especially religious pieces. Her relatives and friends cherish the many treasures Mary made and gifted to them.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine M. Doan of New Hope; her son, Robert R. Hollendonner of Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Bob Doan and his wife, Jessica, of New Hope and Karen M. Doan of Midland Park, NJ; her great-grandchildren, Logan and Ella Doan of New Hope, and her sister, Johanna Csencsits of Deutsch Ehrensdorf, Austria.

The Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Church, 1 Riverstone Circle, New Hope, PA. Interment will follow at the Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery in Solebury, PA. Calling hours will be held at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the start of Mass. The rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to St. Martin of Tours Church, Aid for Friends Fund, 1 Riverstone Circle, New Hope, PA 18938.

Frank Forjan


Frank Forjan, 87, of Circleville, New York, died Nov. 6, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown.

He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Josef and Mathilde (Windisch) Forjan but grew up in Grieselstein, Austria. He moved back to the United States and had a long career as a precision machinist.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Maria; two sons, Joseph Forjan and his wife, Marie, and Gary Forjan and his wife, Liz; two daughters, Christine Fediuk and her husband, Roman, and Laurie Sokoloff and her husband, Don; six grandchildren, Joseph Perry, Derek Sokoloff and Matthew, Daniel, Connor and Keara Forjan; a sister, Frida and her husband, Fred Steir; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph Forjan and his wife, Louise, and William and Felix Forjan; a brother-in-law, Edward Henderson; a nephew, William Forjan; and a niece, Martha Forjan.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 10 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Bullville, with the Rev. Sean Harlow, O.Carm, officiating. Burial followed at New Prospect Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.

Helen Racz


Helen Racz, age 87, of Highland, New York, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at home, after a long illness.

Born on November 21, 1924, in Clifton, NJ, and raised in Tobaj, Austria, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Valeria (Raubold) Racz.

She worked at Gotlebs Sewing Company for 26 years as a designer of fine clothing, from 1924 till 1961. She then perused a career as a quality control inspector at IBM, where she retired in 1987.

She spent many hours gardening and landscaping her rock gardens. When she wasn't bowling, she loved going to Atlantic City with group trips, and especially enjoyed her trip to Europe.

Miss Racz was also a communicant at St. Joseph's Church for 60 years.

She is survived by her brother Adolph and his wife Hildegard Razz of Highland, NY; niece, Marie Menzor of Highland, NY to whom she was a second mother; also by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Zettl, and brother, Joseph Racz.

Irma McMillen (née Feichtinger), age 92, of Pontiac, Michigan, passed away October 20, 2012.

Born in Grafenschachen, Austria, Irma was a graduate of Michigan State University with advanced degrees from Wayne State University.

She was a librarian in the Pontiac Schools where she served the children of Bethune Elementary and Jefferson Jr. High.

Retired Executive Director of the Pontiac YWCA, former member of various boards and organizations including the Pontiac Symphony, Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society;

Irma was also the Recipient of the Heart of Gold Award from the Pontiac City Council.

Joseph “Joe” Domitrovits, age 74, of New Paltz, New York, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie.

Born on June 16, 1938, in Sumetendorf, Austria, he was a son of the late Vitus and Agnes (Garger) Domitrovits.

He married MaryAnne Hafner on August 17, 1964 in New York City, NY. She predeceased him August 1, 2006.

He and his wife were the former owners of the Austrian Village, New Paltz, NY.

He is survived by three sons: Joseph J. Domitrovits of Eastchester, NY, Glen Domitrovits and Eric Domitrovits, both of New Paltz, NY He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Maeve Domitrovits of Rosendale, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday October 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Joseph's Church, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Johanna Stamler


Johanna Stamler, 90, of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care in Toms River.

Born in Urbersdorf, Austria, to Franz and Johanna (Fandl) Furst, she resided in Passaic, Garfield and Elmwood Park prior to moving to Toms River in 1992.

Johanna enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, cooking for everyone and she made the best chicken soup in the world.

She was predeceased by her brother Frank Furst and son-in-law Thomas Parrillo.

Surviving are her loving husband of 66 years, Frank Stamler, daughters Susan and husband Charles Spano of Titusville, NJ and Joan Parillo of Jackson, NJ, sisters Mary LaMantia of Galloway Township, NJ and Pauline and husband Edward Verduin of Wayne, NJ, grandchildren Beth and husband Ken McNaughton of Chatham, NJ, Lauren and husband Joseph Delgado of Lawrence Harbor, NJ, Craig Parrillo of Montclair, NJ, Amy and husband Matt McCloskey of Philadelphia, PA and Charles Spano and wife Claire Carre of Brooklyn, NY, 4 great grandchildren Gavin McNaughton, Hayden McNaughton, Noah Delgado and Nicolas Delgado and many nieces and nephews.

Edmund Malits


Edmund Malits, a man of hope and optimism who believed God never put man on earth to leave it like he found it, passed away September 17, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio.

Born in 1928 in Reinersdorf, Austria, he was a son of the late John and Marie (Derkits) Malits.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Pesch, and his beloved wife of 51 years, Louise Jeanette Wilson Malits.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Maries; and daughters, Carol (Charles) Harmon, Janet (Kurt) Smail; grandchildren, Sally Harmon Hague, Elizabeth Harmon, and Andrew Smail; and great-granddaughter, Stella Louise Hague.

Ed grew up in Erie, PA; after high school he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan. Ed received a BA from Gannon College and an MS in social work from the University of Buffalo.

He dedicated his life's work to helping children and families and children through service in the nonprofit sector. He began his career as psychiatric social worker at Hudson River State Hospital in NY. After joining the Family Service Agency of Buffalo, NY, he served as director of the Desert Family Counseling Service at the U.S. Naval Ordinance Test Station in China Lake, CA.; director of the Johnson County Interagency Cooperative Aftercare Project in Overland Park, KS; director of the Family Service Agency in Cedar Rapids, IA, and Chattanooga, TN; and as a director at Franklin County Children Services in Columbus, OH.

Ed retired and spent 20 years in Sun Lakes, AZ before returning to Columbus.

Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St. A funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Sun Lakes, AZ, with interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

Anna Csencsits (née Lippowitsch), 97, of Wayne, New Jersey, formerly of Passaic Park, passed away on September 16, 2012.

Born in Passaic (and raised in Gaas, Austria), Mrs. Csencsits resided in Passaic Park for most of her life before moving to Midland Park.

She had been a sewing machine operator with several companies in Passaic, Lodi and Garfield.

Mrs. Csencsits was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Passaic where she was a member of the Rosary Society.

She was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Lipovits; two sisters, Marie Paukovits and Stefanie Lippowitsch; and two brothers-in-law, Julius Deutsch and Stefan Paukovits.

John Milisits, 92, of Nazareth, died peacefully in his home on September 5, 2012.

He was the husband of the late Hilda (Konrath) Karlowitch Milisits who died March 3, 2007.

John was born December 22, 1919, in Szentpéterfa, Hungary (aka Petrovo Selo/Prostrum), a son of the late Janos and Maria (Krammer) Milisits.

He was a machinist at Kraemer Textiles in Nazareth until retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth and Saints Peter and Paul Society, Northampton.

Survivors: Daughter, Heidi Valle and husband, J.R., Nazareth; step-daughters, Linda Christman and husband Russ, Lehighton, Kathy Hagemes, Nazareth, Stephanie Young and husband, Glen, Nazareth; step-son John Karlowitch, Florida; eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; predeceased brothers, Lajos and Jozsef Milisits.

Theresia Kody


Theresia Kody (née Kollmann), 95, died after a short illness at Buckingham Valley Nursing Center, Newtown, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012.

Born to Joseph and Anna Maria Kollmann in Sopron (aka Ödenburg), Hungary, she had lived in Vernon for 17 years before moving to Newtown, PA., 11 years ago.

Mrs. Kody worked as a seamstress in the garment industry for many years and also volunteered as a CCD assistant at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church in Vernon. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed gardening and sewing for her family.

Mrs. Kody was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Kody (1982), and a daughter, Katalin Kish (2000), as well as seven brothers and sisters and was the devoted mother of Joseph M. Kody, of Milford, Pa., and Annamaria Jones, of Newtown, Pa. Loving grandmother of Katalin Bieniek, Frank Kish, Theresia Kody, Bryanna Kody, Kellsie Kody, Ryan Jones and Lindsey Jones. Cherished by four great-granddaughters and two great-great-granddaughters.

The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin, N.J., on Monday, Aug. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception R.C. Joseph Garger


Joseph Garger, 79, of Bath, Pennsylvania, formerly of New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Gracedale.

He was the husband of Eileen (Titz) Garger with whom he shared 48 years of marriage on July 18.

Born in Strem, Austria on October 22, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Johanna (Schatz) Garger.

Joseph worked in the elevator industry as an installer and retired as a foreman after more than 30 years. He was proud to have been involved with the installation of the elevators at the World Trade Center.

Joseph was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #385, and he was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Bath.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Eileen; he is survived by his son, Robert J. Garger of Bath; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman and Johann Garger and his sisters, Margaret Hallimann, Mary Karlovits and Angela Unger.

Karl Trinkl


Karl was born April 6, 1942 in Konigsdorf, Austria to Karl and Gisela Trinkl. Karl was 6 years old when he contracted polio during the European outbreak of the 1940's. He not only survived, but thrived.

Karl immigrated to the United States in 1960 and settled in the Bronx, NY. His mother and sister, Elfi, followed two years later. Karl worked as an iron worker/welder. He was a member of the Iron Worker Local #455 which helped build and raise the twin towers. He told stories of walking the beams of the top floors.

Karl met his future bride, Else, at a dance in a German Club in the Bronx. They married May 4, 1963 and have 2 children, Linda and Charles. He became a naturalized citizen on December 13, 1966.

In 1973, Karl and Else moved their family to Deltona, Florida. Karl continued working as a welder and worked for the Florida Department of Transportation for 30 years until he retired in 2003. He was honored with the Deland Maintenance Worker Employee of the year in 2002.

Throughout the years, Karl enjoyed a friendly game of bowling; bowling not in one league but two weekly leagues. As a team, they entered and traveled to many state tournaments for which he has many trophies.

Karl will be remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to fix everything (or at least tell you how to do it), his deep, rich accent and his former love- White Owl demi-tip cigars.

Karl left this life for his eternal home on June 27, 2012. Left to miss his bigger than life presence is his wife of 49 years, Else, daughter Linda Schneider (Kevin), son Charles Trinkl (Corey), grandchildren Jaclyn and Casey Trinkl, and sister Elfi Glucksman (Glendale, AZ). He also leaves grandchildren by love Meghan Pratt and great-grandson Julian Bonner.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 6PM at Community United Methodist Church of DeBary located at 41 W. Highbanks Rd, DeBary, Fl. Stephen Geosits, 90, of Hellertown, Pennsylvania, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at Blough Healthcare Center, Bethlehem.

He was the husband of the late Helen J. (Bartakovics) Geosits, who died April 30, 1998.

He was born in Szentpéterfa, Hungary (aka Petrovo Selo/Prostrum) on February 14, 1922 to the late Ferenc and Rozalia Geosits.

Stephen worked for the former Frank J. Kovacs, General Contractor, Bethlehem as a master carpenter for many years until retiring.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Survivors: Siblings, Louis of Allentown, Maria wife of László Remenyi of Hellertown, Johanna Novak and Paula Jurasits both in Hungary, Anna Kerese of New Brunswick, NJ; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Adolf, Mate, Florian; and a sister, Paula.

Frank Wagner


Frank J. Wagner, age 90, of Norton Shores, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, June 4, 2012.

He was born January 11, 1922 in Schachendorf, Austria to Frank and Theresa (Puskarits) Hotwagner. He came as an infant to the United States with his family and lived in Muskegon Heights.

He was a 1940 graduate of Muskegon Heights High School. He honorably served his country during World War II as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in the European theater, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation and five bronze battle stars.

He married his life-long sweetheart, Theresa Melin on November 1, 1941 and they remained happily married for over 65 years until her death on January 18, 2007. He missed her deeply ever after.

Frank was employed by Sealed Power since 1940 in various positions in the accounting department, eventually becoming the director of national warehousing and distribution operations. He then joined Joy Manufacturing in Michigan City, IN as assistant comptroller, retiring in 1985, whereupon he and his wife returned to enjoy their retirement in the Muskegon area.

He was involved in many religious and civic activities. He was the co-chair of the Building Committee of Sacred Heart Church, president of the board of Catholic Social Services of Muskegon and a member of the executive committee of the Grand Rapids Diocesan Catholic Social Services. He was also the director of the Society for Better Hearing of Muskegon, on the board of directors for the Muskegon YMCA and a charter member of the Muskegon Area Development Committee. He served as chairman of the Muskegon/ Muskegon Heights Consolidation Committee, on the Muskegon Heights Charter Commission and was a member of the Muskegon Heights City Council. He was a lifetime emeritus member of the National Association of Accountants.

Frank enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, golfing, bowling and following the fortunes of his favorite teams: the Chicago Cubs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Hotwagner, sisters, Rose Elwell and Ann Schelhas and brothers-in-law, Basil Elwell and Robert Schelhas. He is survived by his four children: Terri (Jim Walz) Wagner, Dennis Wagner, Mary (Dave Barton) Wagner and Mark (Cindy) Wagner; three granddaughters, Jane Barton, Sarah Wagner and Katie Wagner; sister-in-law, Florence; and many nieces and nephews in the Elwell, Lindsey, Hotwagner and Schelhas families.

The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church - Marian Chapel, Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. VISITATION will be Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 Visitation will also be 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Mr. Wagner will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Camilla Dulmovitz, 98, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, May 12 at Holy Family Manor. She was the wife of the late Frank Dulmovitz.

Born November 29, 1913 in Eberau, Austria, she was the daughter of the late Alois and Theresia (Polzer) Gratzl.

Camilla was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton and a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bethlehem.

Survivors: Son, Frank Dulmovitz, of Bethlehem; and a brother, Josef Gratzl, of Eberau, Austria; nieces and nephews. Camilla was predeceased by a brother, Louis Gratzl; and a sister, Paula Gratzl.

Emilie Bendekovits, 85, of Roseto, Pennsylvania, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, surrounded by her loving family while visiting in Brick, New Jersey.

She was the wife of the late Stefan Bendekovits who died September 21, 2011.

Born April 28, 1926 in Harmisch, Burgenland, Austria, she was the daughter of the late Johann and Katharina (Kiss) Stubits.

Marie P. Eberhardt, 91, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, April 13, 2012.

She was born in Reinersdorf, Austria, daughter of the late Stephen and Julia (Schuster) Stoisits.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Eberhardt who died in 1990.

Marie was the owner and operator of the former Eberhardt Grocery Store, Miller Heights, from 1955 to 1970. She also owned and operated the former Peacock Hotel, Freemansburg, from 1970 to 1976.

She was a long time and faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miller Heights.

Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jeanette wife of, Steven Janda of Victorville, CA; grandsons, Neil Eberhardt and wife, Barbara of Northampton, Joe Eberhardt and wife, Emily of Bethlehem, and Jason Janda and wife, Autumn of Victorville, CA; great grandchildren, Jack, Jacob and Claire Eberhardt, and Kaylee Janda; sisters, Emma Skrobanek and Stella Lang, both of Allentown. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Eberhardt and sister, Theresa Falcone.

Josephine Lorch, 97, of Meriden, Connecticut, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at the MidState Medical Center.

She was born in Mühlgraben, Burgenland, Austria, on March 2, 1915, a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Zieger) Poglitsch and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford.

She is survived by her son William Thumbeck and his wife Heather of Meriden, her grandson, Steven Thumbeck, his wife Wendy and their children, Emily, Abby, Sophie and Carley of Port Orange, FL; her granddaughter, Tracie-Lee Burr, her husband Doug, and their children, Josh and Zack of Roswell, GA; her great granddaughter, Jenifer Thumbeck of Cincinnati, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Thumbeck; her second husband, Eugene Lorch; her grandson, Mike Thumbeck; and several brothers and sisters.

The Thumbeck and Burr families would like to thank the Bradley Home for the wonderful care that they gave Josie while she was a resident there. They would also like to thank the entire medical staff on Pavilion D at MidState Medical Center for the loving and compassionate care they gave Josie while she was a patient there.

Hilda Dyer, 86, of Bordentown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Hamilton with her loving family and close friends by her side.

Born in Kroatisch Geresdorf, Austria, she was a daughter of the late Ludwig and Maria (Kuzmich) Hafner.

A proud parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Bordentown; she will be remembered for her generous nature, her passion for politics, her love of the tango, waltz, animals, gardening, cooking, and talk radio. Hilda's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, caring friend and will be greatly missed.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur W. Dyer, and her sister, Edith Toth.

She is survived by her loving children, Arthur and Deborah A. Dyer, Patricia M. Dyer, Janine Y. and Martin C. Livingston; her grandchildren, Melinda A. and Joseph Johnson, Allison M. Dyer, Jessica L. Dyer; her sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Eliasberg; her brother-in-law, William J. Dyer; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Apr. 11) at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Anna was a cook for more than 25 years at the Forest Inn in West Park.

Gerhard J. Huber, 55, of Leesville, South Carolina, formerly of Coplay, Pennsylvania died suddenly Monday, March 19, in the Montgomery Hospital, Norristown, PA.

He was the husband of Crystal (Hydrick) Huber.

Born March 19, 1957 in Reinersdorf, Burgenland, Austria, he is the son of Stefan and Maria (Taker) Huber, of Coplay.

Gerhard was a QA Specialist for Ansaldo-STS, formerly Union Switch & Signal Co. in Batesburg, S.C. for the last 16 years.

Along with his brothers, he was a long-time member of "The Happy Austrians" band, touring the US, Canada, and Austria.

He was a former member of St Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

Survivors: Wife; parents; daughter, Nina, of Coplay; sons, Jason and Trey; step children, Brandon and Brittany, all of S.C.; brothers, Steven and his wife Debra, of Schnecksville, Anton and his wife Diane, of Northampton; many nieces and nephews.

Frida Koch, née Prinner, age 82, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away March 20, 2012 at Bridgeport Hospital.

Mrs. Koch was born in Sopron (Ödenburg), Hungary and was a longtime Bridgeport resident.

Anna Fleischmann


Anna Fleischmann, age 91, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 at Fair View Nursing Home.

Anna was born on August 13, 1920 in Grosspetersdorf, Burgenland, Austria the youngest child of Frank and Theresia (Krolick) Steurer. She arrived in the U.S. on Christmas Eve, 1927. One of her most interesting memories was of the arrival hall at Ellis Island decorated for Christmas, a memory she shared with her family during a visit to New York.

Anna lived most of her life in St. Louis, moving to Sedalia 4 years ago to be closer to her daughter. She was married to Joseph E. Fleischmann on September 9, 1944 at St. Boniface Church in St. Louis. She and Joe were married for 52 years before his death in 1996. They loved to travel, play cards and had a wide circle of friends. Anna graduated from business school and went to work as a bookkeeper, a position she held at a variety of St. Louis firms until her retirement at age 70.

Anna is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Martin and her husband Turf, one granddaughter, Ashley Martin of St. Louis, a niece Mary Ann MacLean of Garden Grove, CA, 5 additional nieces, a nephew and many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, a granddaughter Sara Alice Martin, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, a nephew and her parents.

A vigil service for the deceased will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 6:30 pm at Heckart Funeral Home followed by visitation until 8:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 pm Friday, March 23, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bahner (Junction of V and M). Pallbearers will be Ronald Hoppes, Chuck Kratzer, Robert DeHaven, Mark Homan, Beau Kratzer and Tayler Kratzer. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. Louis.

Pauline A. Rizzotto 90, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 in St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Pauline was the wife of the late James L. Rizzotto Sr., who passed in 1997.

Born in Rauchwart, Austria, Pauline was a daughter of the late Alois and Pauline (Ernheffler) Yandrisovits.

Pauline worked for many years as a sewing machine operator for the former Clyde Shirt Factory in Northampton, the former Highland Fashions in Allentown, and the former D&D Sewing Factory in Coplay.

She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Allentown.

Survivors: Sons, James L. Jr. and his wife Patti of St. Petersburg, FL, and Thomas B. and his wife Deborah of Allentown; a daughter, Maria P. Rizzotto of Allentown; sisters, Theresia Meyer in Cherryville, and Helen Rizzotto of Whitehall. Pauline has five grandchildren, Anthony, Valerie, Gina, Heather, and Lee, and four great grandchildren. Pauline was predeceased by sisters, Stephanie and Mary.

Margaret (Buchesz) Bakan, age 79, died on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey.

Born in Alsószölnök (Unterzemming), Hungary, she settled in Elizabeth, moving to North Plainfield in the early 1960's when she married her husband Eugen Bakan.

Prior to retiring, Margaret worked as a Nurses Aid at McKutchen Nursing Home in North Plainfield.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield and loved singing in the church choir.

She was a past member of Saenger Hall in North Plainfield and enjoyed gardening, homemaking and cooking in her spare time.

She was predeceased by her husband Eugen Bakan in 2005, and her brothers, Josef and Imre Buchesz.

Survivors: her daughter Lili Bakan of N. Plainfield; a sister in law, Margaret Buches of Bethlehem, PA; a brother, Ferenc Buchesz of Hungary; a nephew Joseph Buches, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and a goddaughter, Rose Nagy Szabo of Bethlehem, PA.

Theresa Kastelberger (nee Karner) passed away peacefully on February 24, 2012 at the age of eighty-five, in a nursing home on the south shore of Montreal.

She was born in Wolfau, Austria on March 28, 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1931.

Theresa is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, George Kastelberger.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children Lydia (Bernard), Ronald ( Linda), and John (Gabriella), her seven grandchildren, Francis (Véronique), Laura (Miro), Sara (Victor), Jenny, Jessica (Jeff), Lisa (Mitchell), and Julia, and her four great- grandchildren, Olli, Miko, Victoria, and Michael, and her two sisters-in- law, Eva (late John) and Maria (late Peter).

In her very simple and loving way, mom touched the lives of all family and friends.

Frank Schweitzer, 82, of Bethlehem, PA, died peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 24, 2012.

He was born August 4, 1929 in Alsószölnök (Unterzemming), Hungary, son of the late Frank and Justina (Skerlak) Schweitzer.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Mary (Kerekes) Schweitzer.

In 1992, Frank retired from the Bethlehem Housing Authority as a Maintenance Mechanic.

He was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Frank was also a member of the Westside Republican Club, the Windish Hall, Monocacy Field and Stream and B.V.F.H.A.

Frank was an avid gardener, enjoyed landscaping and was a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.

Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; son, Louis Schweitzer and his wife, Natalie of Bethlehem; daughter, Mary Haldaman and her husband Daniel of Kunkletown; three grandchildren, Sara Stametz, Jenna and Jake Schweitzer; and a great-granddaughter, Addison.

She was a salesperson for Ellen's Catering in New York City for many years before retiring.

Anna was loved by and devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kurt, in 1986.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Konrad and Ellen Mayer of Chester, NY; her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Victor Simon of Freehold; siblings, Alois Dulmovits and Agnes Eder, both of Austria; four grandchildren, Stephan Mayer and his wife, Jennie, Lauren Mayer and her fiancé, Richard Haskell, Kristine Lukasik and her husband, Mark, and William Simon and his wife, Lauren; and four great grandchildren, Lucas and Zoe Mayer and Katharine and Kurt Lukasik.

Joseph Zinter Jr.


Joseph Zinter Jr. of Brewster, NY, died suddenly on Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Mt. Kisco, NY, at the age of 72.

Mr. Zinter was born on January 18, 1940 in Deutsch Schützen, Austria, son of the late Joseph and Hedwig (Novogratz) Zinter.

He came to the United States at the age of 16 and settled in Bronx, NY.

On Sept. 18, 1967, he married Carol Marzec in the Holy Family Church in Bronx, NY, and they moved to Brewster in 1973.

In addition to working as a Senior Model Maker for the T.J. Watson Research Center IBM in Yorktown Heights for over 27 years,

Mr. Zinter was a beloved and active member in his church, community, and in his Austrian heritage. He was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster, Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council 1495, an honored member of the Brotherhood of the Burgenländer, volunteered with local high school students through FIRST robotics and the Boy Scouts of America.

He was raised as a farmer, enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his grandchildren, and his annual trip to his homeland.

Besides his wife Carol, he is survived by his five children: Katherine Zinter of Brewster, Rosemarie Sellati of Poughkeepsie, NY, Debra Smith of Portchester, NY, Joseph P. Zinter of Guilford, CT, John Zinter, Singapore, a sister Agnes Pohlmann of Kensington, CT, three grandchildren; Ethan Anthony and Owen Joseph Sellati and Kaitlin Mary Smith. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Zinter.

Margaret Hanzl


Margaret Marakovits, 99, formerly of Clifton, NJ passed away February 6, 2012 at The House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown.

Margaret was born on April 24, 1912 in Punitz, Austria, the youngest child of Georg and Josefa Marakovits.

She lived much of her life in Clifton and was an active member of the Holy Trinity R.C. Church community in Passaic.

Before her retirement, Margaret worked for many years as a mender at Forstmann Woolen Company in Passaic and Garfield.

She was a member of the Burgenländer-American Society of Passaic-Clifton.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ruppert and her husband, Frank, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, John, who died in 1988; sons Walter F. and John; daughters-in-law Joan and Rosalie; brothers Frank and Ferdinand; sisters Johanna Dragovits, Maria Marakovits and Rosa Klucsarics.

Funeral services will be Saturday 8:15 AM from the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton and 9 AM at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, cor. Hope Avenue and Harrison Street, Passaic. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Paterson. Visiting Friday from 3-7 PM only.

Stefan Unger


Stefan Unger, age 81 died February 2, 2012 at Sanctuary at the Abbey in Warren, Michigan.

Stefan was born December 9, 1930 in Moschendorf, Austria to the late Josef and Johanna (Frisch) Unger.

Stefan was a retired Hi-Lo driver for Chrysler and a member of the Carpathia Club and Austrian Club.

He enjoyed hunting and wine making.

Stefan was the beloved husband of Katharina, who predeceased him in 2009.

Loving father of Rose (Cary) Carruth, Heidi (Vinod) Unger-Joshi. Proud grandfather of Joshua and Justin Carruth and Jay Joshi. Dear brother of Joseph Unger.

Visitation Sunday 2-9 p.m. and Monday 4-9 p.m. at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr, Warren, Mich., 48088. Funeral service will be Tuesday Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.

Rose Recker


Rose A. Recker, 103, of Northampton died Tuesday January 31 in Holy Family Manor, Bethlehem.

She was the wife of the late John S. Recker.

Born February 6, 1908 in Moschendorf, Austria, she was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Wolfel) Toth.

Rose worked at the former Cigar Factory and the former Clyde Shirt factory for many years.

She was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Rose was a cook and a member of the former St. Joseph Sick & Beneficial Society in Northampton.

Survivors: Four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; a sister Gisela Urban, of Moschendorf; two nieces. Rose was predeceased by her daughters, Rose Marakovits, Mary Petrasovits and Hilda Recker.

Services: A Burial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 3 at 10:45 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Church 1324 Newport Ave. Northampton. Family and friends may call Friday, 8:30 to 10:15 in the Reichel Funeral Home 326 E. 21st St. Northampton.

Memorials may be presented to Holy Family Manor c/o funeral home.

John Neubauer


John “Hans” Neubauer, 73, , of The Villages, Florida, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012.

Mr. Neubauer was born in Sumetendorf, Austria. He moved to New York from Austria in 1965, then to The Villages in 2003 from New Paltz, N.Y.

He was a retired auto mechanic, enjoyed playing golf and belonged to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the German Club and had belonged to the Elks in the past.

Survivors include his wife, Susanne, and two brothers, Fritz, New York, and Alois, Austria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood.

Arrangements are under the direction of Banks/Page-Theus Funerals and Cremations, Wildwood.

Gottlieb Burits


Gottlieb Burits of Rockledge, Pennsylvania died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook. He was 88 years old. Gottlieb was born December 20, 1923 in Grossmürbisch, Burgenland, Austria, the son of the late Johann and Josefa (Lindner) Burits.

He is the beloved husband for 51 years of Lotte (Buehner) Burits. Father of Linda Burits (Mike Morris), and Monica Rotzal (Bob). Grandfather of Alex, Adam and Paul Rotzal, and Heidi Morris. He is also survived by his brother, Anton Burits.

Gottlieb was born, raised, and educated in Austria. He and Lotte would have been married for 52 years in May of 2012. Gottlieb and Lotte opened the Austrian Village Restaurant in Rockledge on August 26, 1972. The restaurant has been a fixture in the community ever since. Gottlieb and Lotte’s daughters and their families are continuing the tradition of service at the restaurant today. Gottlieb was a member and past president of the Tiroler Beneficial Society and was a member of Austrian Society and Northeast Lions Club. Gottlieb was engaged in most aspects of the Austrian and German communities and clubs in the Philadelphia area and its suburbs.

Relatives and friends were invited to a visitation on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Austrian Village Restaurant, 321 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Frank Szerensits


Frank J. Szerensits, 83, of Coplay, PA, passed away January 8, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown.

He was married to Mary A. (Ifkovits) Szerensits for 61 years.

Born in Reinersdorf, Austria, he was the son of the late Joseph and Stephanie (Grohotolski) Szerensits.

Frank was a foreman for the Bridesburg Foundry, Whitehall, for 40 years retiring in 1987.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay.

Survivors: Wife; son, Thomas M. Szerensits and his wife, Jude of Bel Air, Maryland; grandchildren, Taryn, Jinae, Tatum, Tatum, Tanner and Travis; great-grandchildren, Devon, Molly, Will, Violet, Ava and Radek; brothers, Joseph and Thomas, both of Northampton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward; and sisters, Rose and Helen.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay. Viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment, St. Peter's Cemetery, Whitehall.

Simon Rajkovac


Simon Rajkovac, 84, of Northampton, PA, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Simon was the husband of Mary R. (Kiss) Rajkovac. They celebrated their 41st year of marriage this past December 26, 2011.

Born in Horvátlövö (Kroatisch Schützen/Hrvatske ©ice), Vas megye, Hungary, he was the son of the late Simon and Etelka (Cseri) Rajkovac.

Simon was employed by the Northampton Area School District in Maintenance and Custodial services for over 20 years before retiring in June of 1992.

He was a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, Northampton, PA.

Survivors: Surviving along with his wife Mary are a daughter, Suzann M. wife of Dr. Peter Fodor of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Maria Habetler of Northampton, Goldie wife of George Skrapits of Northampton, Mrs. Stella Pock of Horvátlövö; three grandsons: Jacob, Jeffrey, and Jordan. He was predeceased by seven brothers: Bernard, Ignatz, Andras, Frank, Geza, Imre, Josef, and one sister, Rose Bugnits.

Services: Funeral Services are scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067., where the family will receive friends from 10 to 12 p.m. prior to the services. Msgr. John Campbell will officiate the services. Interment will follow services at the Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton, PA.

Contributions: May be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital C/O the funeral home.
