Kukmirn: Birth and Marriage Records
from the Lutheran Church Records at Kukmér, Vas Megye
and Marriage Records from the Kukmirn Civil Recording District
These databases are courtesy of BB member Patrick Kovacs, who has
posted the birth data as an Excel file on the Burgenland Bunch Official Facebook page but also gave permission to the BB to
republish it here, and directly shared the marriage records with the BB. Kukmirn (Hungarian: Kukmér), is in the Güssing
District.
The Lutheran databases consists of 8,733 birth records and 1,849 marriage records from 1828 to 1895.
Kukmirn was the official Lutheran recording location for the following villages during this time:
- Deutsch Kaltenbrunn (Némethidegkut), - Deutsch Tschantschendorf (Németcsencs), - Eisenhüttl (Németcsencs), - Gerersdorf bei Güssing (Németszentgrot), - Güssing (Németújvar), - Hasendorf ([Vas]Nyulfalva), - Heiligenkreuz im Lafnitztal (Rábakeresztúr), - Heugraben (Szénásgödör), - Inzenhof (Borosgödör), - Kleinmürbisch (Kismedves), - Königsdorf (Királyfalva), - Krottendorf bei Güssing (Békafalu), - Krottendorf bei Neuhaus (Békató), - Kukmirn (Kukmér), - Langzeil (-), - Limbach (Hárspatak), |
- Neusiedl bei Güssing (Felsőujlak), - Neustift bei Güssing (Ujtelep), - Olbendorf (Óbér), - Poppendorf (Patafalva), - Rauchwart (Rábot), - Rehgraben (Özgödör), - Rohrbrunn (Nádkut), - Sankt Michael im Bgld (Pusztaszentmihály), - Schallendorf (Salafa), - Stegersbach (Szentelek), - Strem (Strém), - Sulz (Sóskut), - Tobaj (Tobaj), - Tschanigraben (Sándorhegy), - Urbersdorf (Orbánfalu) and - Zahling ([Uj]Körtvéles). |
These records were documented by several different church officials, each
with his own language preferences. The result is a mix of different spellings for the same names. As Patrick says, "Surname
spelling was quite fluent back then. To highten searchability I've tried to standardise them. Some examples: Fullmann/Vollmann,
Gölleß/Gellesz, Zach/Czach, Wilfinger/Wolfinger, Boantl/Poantl/Poandl, Muik/Muick, Feiertag/Feyertag, Kameler/Kamerler,
Koglman/Kogelmann."
Where illegible entries exist, Patrick indicates his guess by including a question mark. Where he can identify and correct
apparently wrong information, he surrounds the incorrect data with %-marks and places the corrected data in {} marks, as
follows: %incorrect information% {correction}.
In addition, the following abbreviations appear: illeg. = illegitimate child; posth. = posthumous birth; primog.
= first born; notget. = emergency baptism; and (rc) = Roman Catholic.
